Objectives
The TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is an introductory teaching qualification, which prepares learners for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts. It does not develop competence, as learners are not required to be in a teaching position. The qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to teach in the Further Education and Skills Sector and forms a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training.

Entry Requirements
- The qualification is suitable for learners of 19 years of age and above
- There are no specific entry requirements and learners do not need to have teaching practice hours to achieve the qualification.
- There may be a requirement, by a learner’s employer for them to hold a current CRB Certificate if they currently or intend to work with learners who are covered by the CRB regulations. It is the learner's responsibility to seek advice from their employer regarding this, along with attending any necessary Safeguarding information events. Centers are responsible for ensuring the qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of the learners.

Successful learners can progress to other teachings, training, assessment and internal quality assurance qualifications such as:

Qualification Overview and Objectives
The Highfield Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (RQF) has been designed to prepare trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts. It requires observation and assessment of practice and the range of optional units available provide opportunities to contextualize the qualification for different learning environments. This qualification is suitable for individuals who:
- want a qualification focused on practical teaching
- want a choice of optional units that reflect the context in which they teach
- are currently teaching and want to have their practice and experience accredited
- are not currently teaching but can meet the minimum teaching practice requirement of 30 hours
- are able to undertake a qualification of medium size
- have the potential to study at this level which equates to the first year of an undergraduate degree
- are willing to undertake an initial assessment of their skills in maths, English and ICT
The objective of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace and prepare learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level. The qualification is supported by the Education and Training Foundation.Â

Entry Requirements
In order to complete this qualification, learners are required to:
- Be a minimum of 19 years of age
- Be qualified, proficient or experienced in the subject which they intend to teach.
- Have sufficient personal skills to complete the academic and other requirements of the programme. They will also need to be able to support their learners at the appropriate level whilst delivering their subject specialism.
- Demonstrate the potential to study at minimum academic level 4 -the same level of study as the first year of a degree course.
- Take an initial assessment of their maths, English and ICT skills. The teaching programme will support further development of these skills, recorded in a personal development log. It is recommended that trainee teachers will have been assessed as competent at level 2 in English and maths prior to the completion of this qualification. On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:

Objectives
The TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is suitable for teachers, trainers and tutors working in further education, adult and community learning or work-based training within the public, private, voluntary or community organizations
- It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, including:
- Planning and developing schemes of work
- Delivering learning sessions
- Developing teaching and learning strategies
- Assessment practices
A range of optional units is available, including some units from the Learning and Development suite. These units require practice to be assessed.
Learners must be willing to undertake an initial assessment of their skills in English, mathematics, and ICT, record their development needs and follow an action plan.

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements. There may be a requirement by the employer for learners to be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service: https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service check/overview or if they intend to work with learners who are covered by these regulations (formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)). It is the learner's responsibility to seek advice from their employer regarding this.
Learners must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Reading and communication skills should be adequate to meet the requirements of the training.
- Do not have a criminal background which prevents them from working, with young people or vulnerable adults, as a teacher.
- Hold a relevant qualification at a level above that of their learners; ideally at least Level 3 in their area of specialism
- Minimum core of literacy, language, numeracy, and ICT
Individuals are not required to have achieved a Level 3 Award in Education and Training or a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training before undertaking a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. However, some individuals may already have completed one or both of these qualifications.
Individuals who have completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and who are progressing directly to the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training cannot bring forward any credit or observed and assessed practice.
Individuals who have completed the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training:
- Who is progressing to an HEI-validated qualification at Level 5 or above may have their level 4 credit recognized in line with that higher education institution’s arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (RPL). Learners who are progressing to an AO-accredited Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training should have their prior achievement recognized.
Notes: RPL will apply between the mandatory credit from the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training and the Level 4-unit Teaching, learning, and assessment in education and training from the Level 5 Diploma of Education and Training. Trainees should not be required to present further evidence other than that necessary to demonstrate that their prior learning is at Level 4. may use some of the evidence for practice, including observed and assessed practice, to meet the practice requirements for the Level 4 unit -Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training and towards the overall minimum practice requirements, including observed and assessed practice requirements, for the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

Objectives
This qualification develops knowledge of the principles and practice of assessment without any requirement to practice as an assessor.
